Norco fridge and leveling gears
« on: July 05, 2010, 07:35:06 AM »
I have a 1996 King of The Road fifth wheel with a Norco fridge that the freezer will work fine but the fridge will only get cool no matter how long we keep it plugged up,and also does anyone know where I can find the gears on the front leveling jacks mine are worn and will not raise the jacks

Have you used a thermometer to actually measure the temperature in the freezer and refrigerator?  The freeze may be cold compared to the refrigerator but not actually freezing.  If you are in really hot weather you may want to put a fan below the cooling unit (outside vent) to circulate more air up and out the top vent. Just opening or temporarily removing the vent cover may help)  The reality is there is a good chance you will have to replace the refrigerator.

As for the landing gear: If you can hear the motor running then check to see if you have a broken shear pin where the motor connect to the gear shaft.  That's the likely cause of the problem you describe.

The gears do wear out and if that's the case you'll have to remove the legs to make the repairs. Once the legs are out you can get new gears at most any well-stocked RV repair shop.  You can also replace the entire leg for not too much money.

I also experience my refrigerator is not getting cold at all. So, it is possible that the compressor is dead or not working properly. Try to dust off the coils in the back.
